Yes I am a little behind! The Friday after Thanksgiving Darrell and me used a groupon for an overnight stay at the Hotel Baker which is on the Fox River in downtown St. Charles! I had always wanted to stay there, but it is so expensive! It’s still expensive even with a groupon, but a little better! We checked in at 4pm that Friday and went up to our room. I was a little disappointed, because I expected it to be so grand and fine and huge and even old, but in a cool way! It was just a hotel room, with a squeaky bed a connecting door to the next room and a handicap shower! I was at least hoping for a tub (if not an old fashioned tub w/ feet!). Oh well, it was still nice to get a way for one night.
After we saw our room we started walking around downtown (luckily we were having great weather!) We wanted to find a nice little family restaurant to eat in, but all we found was bar and pub after tavern. Darrell didn’t feel like any of these. So we kept walking, and eventually turned around and found ourselves in this HUGE crowd of people! Turns out they were having their tee lighting!! As we walked through and then away from it (it was pitch black there!) We heard a countdown and then all the lights came on! This is a bad picture from my phone, but here ya go!
We finally found a place to eat! Pizza Pi Perfection! We got there just in time too, because everyone from the tree lighting came in after us and the wait time kept going up and up and up while Darrell and me were enjoying our amazing pizza and lasagna!!!! After dinner we found an ice cream place where I had the best ice cream flavors!!!
We went back to our room and just relaxed for the rest of the night, which was great! We slept in the next morning and then had breakfast at Colonial Cafe. So all in all it was a very nice time! Just not something we’ll probably ever repeat.
P.S. What is up with this creepy door on our hotel room?!?!
