Last year Darrell and I took my parent’s to Shipshewana for their anniversary gift, and we all really wanted to go back and bring our campers and stay longer. Well since my mom died, we decided not to do that, but because my dad enjoyed the food, we decided to go on their anniversary, August 25, just for the day. The 3 of us left early and the first thing we did was have our amazing Amish family style meal. It is so filling, but oh-so-good! We were stuffed, but yet were still able to shove the dessert of pie down our throats! We walked around for a while looking through the shops, where I got an Amish outfit for my American Girl doll. We went to some antique shops, and even saw an Amish auction going on. It was super hot that day though. Then we decided to sign up for an Amish dairy farm tour. We got to ride in an Amish buggy to get there:
The first thing we saw when we got to the dairy farm was the farm dog and the farm kitten!
We then got to watch them milking their cows and they asked for some volunteers and of course my hand shot up!!!
We continued our tour of the dairy barn.
Next we got to go to the baby calfs! Again they asked for a volunteer! I just love feeding the babies!
This little girl gets to do this everyday. I couldn’t be more jealous!
I think we really enjoyed our tour, even though it was hot. We also got some free fresh milk and ice cream! SO YUMMY!
This little cutie followed us through the whole tour, and he was in my arms multiple times!
Goodbye Amish Farm!
Goodbye Shipshewana, hopefully we’ll be back! We finished our trip with a stop to the custard place in the campground!
