This post is going to be all about my brand new family member, Dutch. I call him Dutchie Poopies and Darrell calls him Hoppers or Poopers, but don’t be fooled, his real name is Dutch! His breed is also called Dutch. Yes I’m so original when it comes to names…. He was 6 weeks old when I got him. Anyway, my dad and I went to the Sandwich Fair this past September, which is where we got him. I have always wanted a bunny, and Darrell has always said no. Well Darrell wasn’t there, and my dad helped talk me into it! Here is the day we took him home!
Dad and I went to Farm and Fleet and found a cage for him, however, we tried it and it wasn’t working, so you will see him in 2 different cages. So here is Dutch in his new home!
Right away Mary & Batman were VERY interested in knowing what was going on in THEIR home!
Exactly 1 week after I got Dutch, an accident happened. Darrell was carrying him from his cage to his play pen, and he squirmed too much and he jumped out of Darrell’s hands and landed on the kitchen floor. He started hopping on 1 foot right away and I got so nervous. My dad was over because we were going camping that weekend, it was going to be Dutch’s first camping trip. So we took him to the vet and lo and behold he had a broken leg! Of course we were very lucky he hadn’t broken his back and need to be euthanized…. So I boarded him for the weekend to make sure he would be ok.
The poor baby bunny had to keep his cast on for a month and go to the vet every week!
Finally after the longest month ever Dutch got his cast off!
The day Dutch got his cast off, we were going camping again, so that ended up being his first camping trip ever. I think it went very well!
