Book 19 of 500!!

Book 19 was Which Way to the Wild West? by Steve Sheinkin & illustrated by Tim Robinson. I love this book. Steve was a writer of textbooks. He always tried to put funny and interesting stories into the textbooks but his bosses wouldn’t let him, so one day he decided to write his own books about history aspects using his fun stories, that is what this book is. He has 3 of them, and this was the 2nd one I read. I do love history & these are the types of book that really make it come alive for me and make me appreciate all the wonders of it! In school I hated history because it was so dull & boring. If this guy had been the teacher I know I would have started appreciating history LONG before college!! I really recommend this book!

Great post!!!! I’m right with you! A friend of mine is really into history, and when we’d chat he’d often go off with the details of the stories, making the people come alive, and making the settings seem so real… I told him to become a history teacher, because if students heard it like that, history wouldn’t be all about dusty facts and dates!
